Job Description

A fast-growing, client-focused wealth management and retirement planning firm is seeking a strategic, experienced, and hands-on Chief Investment Officer to lead its investment operations. This newly created leadership role will be responsible for constructing and managing investment models, overseeing asset allocation strategies, collaborating with advisors on client portfolios, and supervising one experienced trader. This is a rare opportunity to build and shape an investment platform within a dynamic and entrepreneurial RIA firm. They’re looking for a detail-oriented, intellectually sharp investment leader with emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and a servant-leader mindset.

Salary Range: $150,000 – $250,000 / year DOE

Chief Investment Officer Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage all financial models and investment strategies
  • Collaborate with advisors to tailor asset allocation plans aligned with clients’ goals and risk profiles
  • Evaluate and rebalance portfolios across a full/open architecture platform
  • Oversee and mentor the in-house trader
  • Utilize investment planning tools to support planning and execution
  • Work with custodians and fund managers to test and evaluate models
  • Monitor and adjust strategies based on economic conditions, market trends, and firm-wide objectives
  • Ensure compliance with SEC guidelines and support continuous improvement of investment processes

Chief Investment Officer Requirements:

  • 8–15+ years of experience in financial services or investment roles, preferably within an RIA setting
  • CFA designation required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Deep understanding of retirement-focused investment strategies and holistic planning
  • Familiarity with investment software and platforms
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with experience constructing and managing diversified portfolios
  • High emotional intelligence with a collaborative and service-driven approach
  • Series 65 or 7 license, or CFP® designation is preferred
  • Experience working directly with high-net-worth clients or advisory teams is a plus
