A thriving construction company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join their collaborative, high-performing team in Santa Barbara, CA. This position plays a vital role in the success of the company by developing accurate project bids, conducting takeoffs, and working closely with suppliers, field teams, and clients. The Estimator will work on a wide range of underground utility and heavy civil projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced estimator or project manager with deep knowledge of self-performed construction and a knack for visualizing how jobs are built from plans.

Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000 / year DOE

Estimator Responsibilities:

• Analyze plans and specifications to complete accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
• Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and superintendents to define scopes and timelines
• Visit job sites and meet with clients to understand site conditions and project requirements
• Communicate regularly with material suppliers to request quotes and ensure up-to-date pricing
• Prepare and submit bid packages in coordination with the senior estimating team
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from small quick-turn bids to large complex proposals
• Participate in internal planning meetings to align estimating with field execution strategies
• Maintain accurate documentation and organized estimating files for reference and audit

Estimator Requirements:

• 3–5 years of estimating experience in underground utilities, heavy civil, or similar construction projects
• Experience working for a subcontractor or self-performing GC highly preferred
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating software
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and perform detailed takeoffs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Clean driving record and ability to travel locally within Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
