An award-winning architectural firm is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the firm’s financial operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on role overseeing full-cycle accounting, job cost reporting, payroll, benefits, and compliance in a collaborative firm. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats in a smaller office setting.

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

• Lead the full accounting cycle including general ledger, month- and year-end close, and financial reporting
• Oversee job cost accounting, WIP reporting, project P&L tracking, and overhead allocation
• Manage AP/AR, including vendor payments, invoicing, collections, and cash flow reporting
• Supervise payroll for multi-state employees, tax filings, and benefit deductions
• Administer 401(k), health insurance renewals, and professional liability policies
• Collaborate with the leadership team to drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Manage and mentor one full-time and one part-time accounting staff member
• Ensure compliance with audits, annual filings, and industry regulations
• Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls

Accounting Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or MBA is preferred
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including job cost accounting and payroll
• Proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint and Excel
• Experience in the AEC or design industry preferred
• Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
