A well-established and growing company in the construction industry is seeking a driven and hands-on Controller to lead its accounting operations. This is a pivotal role for a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-moving environment and help shape the future of the finance department. You’ll oversee a team, implement systems and processes, and manage the day-to-day accounting functions while supporting company growth. Salary Range: $110,000 – $135,000 / year DOE

Controller Responsibilities:

• Lead all accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, and state/local tax compliance
• Supervise and support a small team
• Oversee job costing, WIP reporting, and insurance documentation
• Collaborate with leadership to develop and improve accounting policies and procedures
• Manage weekly union and salaried payroll
• Assist with HR-related functions, including benefits administration
• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and journal entries
• Participate in strategic planning and department restructuring
• Serve as a resource for cross-departmental collaboration and business process improvement

Controller Requirements:

• 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team supervision
• Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP reporting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience in a small business or entrepreneurial environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
• High integrity, strong initiative, and an independent work ethic
• Prior experience in construction or a related field highly preferred
