Job Description
A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a skilled Air Quality Consultant/Project Manager to join their collaborative team in Tucson, AZ. This role is responsible for managing air quality permitting projects, guiding junior staff, and supporting clients in obtaining certifications and permits from EPA and other regulatory bodies. Day-to-day tasks include proposal development, dispersion modeling, and client relationship management. They’re looking for someone who thrives in a problem-solving environment, enjoys building client relationships, and has a passion for environmental compliance work.
Air Quality Consultant/Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Interpret complex state and federal environmental regulations for air quality compliance
- Manage a portfolio of air permitting projects across various industries
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients, providing compliance guidance and permitting strategies
- Mentor junior engineers and oversee task execution
- Lead control technology analyses and create proposals using ERP systems
- Complete and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies including EPA and state air boards
- Conduct air dispersion modeling using AERMOD and BEEST software
- Generate new business opportunities and maintain strong client relationships
Air Quality Consultant/Project Manager Requirements:
- 4-year degree in engineering, environmental science, or related math/science discipline
- Minimum 5 years of air quality consulting experience, including project management
- Proficiency in air dispersion modeling software such as AERMOD and BEEST
- Knowledge of at least two of the following: TRI reporting, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, NESHAP, NSPS, Clean Air Act, EPCRA Tier 2
- Ability to originate and manage business within the Southwest region
- Strong communication skills with a client-facing, professional demeanor
- Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Deltek Vision/VantagePoint
