Job Description

An electrical company is seeking a proactive and experienced Construction Safety Manager to oversee and lead its safety operations across multiple infrastructure and electrical construction projects throughout the greater Chicago area. This hands-on role ensures job site safety, regulatory compliance, and fosters a culture of accountability and safety excellence across all levels of the company. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and calm leader who can earn respect in the field while upholding and enhancing company-wide safety standards.

Salary Range: $95,000 – $125,000 / year DOE

Construction Safety Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive jobsite safety programs
  • Conduct routine site inspections, risk assessments, and audits; recommend corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures
  • Deliver safety orientation and ongoing training for employees, subcontractors, and new hires
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations
  • Conduct and document toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions
  • Collaborate with project managers and foremen to develop site-specific safety plans
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Act as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies during audits or inspections
  • Promote and enforce a proactive safety culture among field and office teams

Construction Safety Manager Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in construction or industrial safety management
  • Proven expertise in OSHA, JHA, risk assessments, and accident investigation
  • Strong working knowledge of construction safety standards and field protocols
  • Experience working in high-production, fast-paced environments
  • Ability to build rapport and enforce safety standards with diverse field teams
  • Must be physically able to access job sites
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong communication, documentation, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoDesk Build preferred
  • OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR/AED certification is a plus
  • Experience with public infrastructure or electrical construction projects is preferred
  • Familiarity with traffic signals, lighting systems, fiber optics, or underground installations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field is preferred
