A highly respected boutique law firm specializing in probate, estate, and trust litigation is hiring a seasoned Probate Paralegal for its San Diego office. Salary Range: $85,000 – $125,000 / year DOE
Probate Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Oversee all phases of probate cases, ensuring timely progress from Letters of Administration to final distribution
- Draft petitions, notices, and legal documents while tracking statutory deadlines across multiple California counties
- Ensure probate files are consistently court-ready by addressing examiner notes and submitting complete, accurate filings
- Maintain detailed status reports, checklists, and matter timelines to support efficient file management and team coordination
- Communicate proactively with clients to provide updates, answer questions, and minimize attorney involvement in routine matters
- Liaise with courts, referees, and third parties to keep probate matters moving forward without delays or missed steps
- Support litigation attorneys when probate cases overlap with contested matters, including prepping relevant case documents
- Lead department workflow by mentoring junior probate staff and reinforcing adherence to court and firm procedures
Probate Paralegal Requirements:
- At least 5 years of California probate administration experience
- Strong working knowledge of the CA Probate Code, CCP, and local court rules
- Paralegal certificate or qualifying experience under CA B&P Code §6450
- Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Word, and cloud-based systems like SharePoint or Clio
- Comfortable managing a high volume of matters independently and accurately
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with court portals and document templates preferred
