A commercial real estate firm is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its tight-knit accounting team. Reporting to the VP of Real Estate Accounting, this role offers hands-on responsibility across the full accounting cycle for a diverse commercial property portfolio. You’ll handle AR, monthly close, CAM reconciliations, budgeting, and lease interpretation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and system integrity. Salary Range: $80,000 – $89,000 / year DOE

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle accounting for about 10 commercial properties
• Handle AR and month-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, financial reporting
• Support annual operating budgets and CAM reconciliations
• Review leases and ensure abstracts align with actual lease terms
• Assist with property acquisitions, dispositions, and tax payment processing
• Maintain accurate property records in JD Edwards and financial reporting tools
• Partner with senior management to share reports and analysis for decision-making
• Support ad hoc financial and accounting projects as needed

Staff Accountant Requirements:

• 3+ years of accounting experience, with AR and month-end close responsibilities
• Experience in commercial real estate accounting strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, Accounting preferred
• Strong understanding of lease terms, CAM billing, and property tax processes
• Advanced skills in Excel
• Familiarity with JD Edwards, Insight, or other real estate accounting platforms is a plus
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently once trained and meet strict deadlines
