Job Description

A cornerstone of Colorado’s civil construction industry is seeking a Project Estimator/Manager to lead critical infrastructure projects across the region. This hybrid role requires someone who can not only develop accurate and competitive bids but also manage those projects from award through closeout ensuring quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction every step of the way. They are looking for a collaborative, proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, team-first environment. Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 / year DOE

Project Estimator/Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate, competitive bids from components to full project scope
  • Manage entire project lifecycle: estimating, scheduling, execution, and closeout
  • Lead schedule development and forecasting for labor, equipment, and supervision
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors; recruit new subs to increase bid competitiveness
  • Oversee subcontractor and material buyouts, negotiations, and change order management
  • Ensure project documentation is complete: submittals, RFIs, as-builts, change orders, closeouts
  • Identify and resolve project challenges early; escalate issues when appropriate
  • Partner with internal teams, owners, engineers, and field staff to drive shared project goals
  • Conduct post-job reviews for continuous improvement and performance tracking
  • Champion safety, quality, and schedule adherence on every job

Project Estimator/Manager Requirements:

  • 5+ years of direct experience estimating and managing civil construction contracts
  • Proven ability to bid and manage paving and/or underground utility projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, B2W, or comparable estimating software
  • Skilled in MS Project, Excel, and Word
  • Capable of creating and managing detailed construction schedules
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Deep understanding of construction documentation, contracts, and change management
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Experience with Vista Viewpoint is preferred
  • Familiarity with CDOT project standards
  • Background in both civil and underground utilities is a major plus
