Job Description
A family-owned custom packaging manufacturer is seeking a smart, business-minded Controller to lead its finance function. This is a newly created leadership position reporting directly to the Vice President, focused on driving financial strategy, capital planning, reporting accuracy, and operational insights. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, tech-savvy, and ready to roll up their sleeves to support a growing manufacturing business.
Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee AP/AR and general accounting operations
- Own cash management, budgeting, and forecasting
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to monitor performance
- Lead cost analysis and ROI modeling for capital equipment purchases
- Evaluate job closeouts and ensure production costs match estimates
- Collaborate with production to fix data issues related to machine speeds and costing accuracy
- Monitor and manage financial metrics by customer/job
- Support and potentially oversee estimating and inventory functions
- Contribute to financial strategies for small, related entities
- Prepare and present financial reports for executive leadership
Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of accounting experience
- 5+ years in a senior or Controller role
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors
- Strong proficiency with PowerBI or similar reporting tools
- Experience with ERP systems
- Proven ability to work independently and drive strategic financial initiatives
- Strong analytical mindset with business acumen and clear communication skills
- MBA highly preferred
- Experience with ERP transitions is preferred
- Experience handling IT or HR functions is a plus
