A mission-driven hospice company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join their growing corporate team in San Diego. This is a critical role responsible for processing payroll across multiple locations, managing benefit deductions, and ensuring timely and accurate employee compensation. The role also includes uploading benefit files and handling administrative payroll tasks within Paylocity. Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 / year DOE

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

• Process biweekly payroll across four different entities
• Manage payroll for employees in multiple states and on different pay cycles
• Collect and verify timecards, track down missing entries, and ensure accuracy before submission deadlines
• Upload and maintain employee data in Paylocity including I-9s, benefits deductions, and change of status forms
• Administer 401(k) uploads and ensure payroll compliance
• Collaborate with staff accountants and leadership to streamline payroll processes
• Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and benefits

Payroll Specialist Requirements:

• 5+ years of payroll processing experience across multiple entities or companies
• Strong working knowledge of Paylocity
• Experience with benefit deductions and 401(k) uploads
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication skills and comfort interfacing with C-level leadership
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted
