Job Description

A nationally recognized independent financial advisory firm is seeking a seasoned Vice President Public Finance Advisor to join its high-performing team. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to not-for-profit healthcare and/or higher education clients, structuring complex, multimillion-dollar financings and leading transactions from origination to close. The ideal candidate is a driven, client-focused advisor with deep experience in public finance and a successful track record in the nonprofit sector.

VP Public Finance Advisor Responsibilities:

  • Originate and manage client relationships within the not-for-profit healthcare or higher education sectors
  • Lead complex financings including plan of finance development, structuring, documentation, negotiation, and execution
  • Oversee all phases of deal execution in collaboration with analysts and associates
  • Direct and coordinate client meetings, team calls, and negotiations with external parties such as attorneys, bankers, rating agencies, and insurers
  • Prepare marketing materials, RFP responses, and detailed financial models using DBC, Bloomberg, and Microsoft Excel
  • Provide strategic guidance and financial advisory services tailored to each client’s needs
  • Stay informed on public finance market trends and maintain competitive intelligence
  • Travel 2–3 times per month to meet clients or attend events across the U.S

VP Public Finance Advisor Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in public finance, municipal bond investment banking, or financial advisory
  • Demonstrated ability to independently originate and execute deals in the not-for-profit space
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • Series 50 license required or willingness to obtain within 3 months
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare and/or education public financing models
  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with Bloomberg and DBC preferred
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and entrepreneurial
  • Experience advising large-scale hospital systems or universities is preferred
  • MBA or related and/or CPA is a plus
  • Previous experience in a boutique financial advisory setting is a huge plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar CRMs
