Job Description
This role is the steward of people, culture, and trust. A long-established, employee-owned organization is seeking a senior VP of HR to step into a top-level role. This position owns the full people function end-to-end. You’ll be responsible for leading a seasoned HR team, advising executive leadership, and ensuring policies, programs, and decisions balance compliance with humanity. You’ll guide strategy, manage daily execution, and serve as the steady voice employees and leaders rely on when it matters most. They are looking for a seasoned, grounded HR executive who leads with empathy, earns trust quickly, and knows how to run a sophisticated HR function without turning it into a rigid rulebook.
VP of HR Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the HR team, ensuring daily operations and long-term initiatives run smoothly
- Oversee employee relations, performance management, discipline, and terminations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on people strategy and organizational decisions
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Design and oversee compensation, benefits, performance, and development programs
- Manage benefits administration, Workers’ Comp, safety programs, insurance relationships, and driving policies
- Track and report on key HR metrics to support business goals
- Manage the HR department budget and recommend improvements or efficiencies
- Support training and leadership development across the organization
- Maintain HR systems and processes, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Foster a culture rooted in respect, accountability, and understanding that people are human
VP of HR Requirements:
- 10-15 years of progressive HR experience
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role, carrying a VP-level title
- Bachelor’s degree required, experience may be considered in place of formal education
- Experience in food or manufacturing is required
- Strong working knowledge of employment law, employee relations, and HR best practices
- Experience leading and developing multi-level HR teams
- Comfort operating in a hands-on, onsite environment
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and core business tools (Kronos experience a plus)
- Ability to navigate executive personalities with confidence and discretion
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
