Job Description

This role provides essential hands-on support and troubleshooting for commercial AV systems, including displays, audio, control, UC platforms, and AV-over-IP environments. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues on-site, ensuring systems are restored quickly and reliably. A strong understanding of signal flow and networking is critical, as the technician will collaborate with internal teams while documenting findings and maintaining system quality. This position requires effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders and a structured approach to problem-solving. Field Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve common to moderately complex issues with AV equipment, including displays, projectors, and microphones.
  • Perform end-to-end signal-flow analysis, validate gain structure, and document corrective actions.
  • Execute device swaps, firmware restores, and re-provisioning with rollback plans.
  • Lead small service engagements and assist Senior staff on larger outages.
  • Troubleshoot issues within conference rooms, working directly with clients to achieve resolutions.
  • Load and validate compiled control and DSP files per change management procedures.
  • Make minor logic edits and GUI adjustments as directed.
  • Configure devices with static IPs/DHCP reservations and manage AV networks.
  • Conduct scheduled health checks and produce clear PM reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary field point-of-contact during service calls and communicate effectively with clients.

Field Service Technician Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in professional AV service/integration or IT/UC support.
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, audio formats, video standards, and control ecosystems.
  • Intermediate networking capability, including IP addressing and diagnostics.
  • A structured troubleshooting mindset and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with cabling and wiring.
  • Strong IT and networking background.
  • Experience with AV technologies and the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Effective communication skills for client-facing interactions.
  • Experience in de-escalating stressful situations.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Certifications: AVIXA CTS, Dante Level 2, Q‑SYS Level 1/2, Biamp Tesira, Extron, Crestron foundations preferred
  • Experience with Shure, Sennheiser, Logitech, Poly, Cisco ecosystems preferred
  • Familiarity with PoE, multicast, QoS, and control programming concepts preferred
  • Experience with ticketing/ITSM platforms and asset/documentation tools preferred
