Job Description

A leading provider of industrial refrigeration services is seeking a skilled Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to support food production and cold storage facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This is a customer-facing, field-based role ideal for an experienced service technician who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys solving complex refrigeration challenges. They are looking for a hands-on, knowledgeable technician with a solid understanding of ammonia systems, strong time management, and excellent communication skills.

Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia-based systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections per maintenance agreements
  • Rebuild and service compressors, evaporators, condensers, and large-scale control systems
  • Read blueprints, service documents, and work with programmable logic controllers
  • Complete documentation through maintenance systems such as Canvas and Catalyst
  • Collaborate with service coordinators to prioritize and schedule work
  • Maintain safety compliance and represent the company in a professional, client-facing manner
  • Occasionally travel for emergency service calls; service truck provided

Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Requirements:

  • 5+ years of industrial refrigeration experience, including ammonia systems
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • EPA Universal Certification and RETA I & II certifications or ability to obtain
  • Hands-on knowledge of FRICK, Danfoss, Hanson, Baltimore Aircoil, and similar systems
  • Experience with industrial compressors and evaporative condensers
  • Ability to manage time independently and adapt to changing schedules
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction
  • Experience servicing multiple industrial facilities is preferred
  • OSHA certification and familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs is a plus
  • High school diploma or technical trade certification is strongly preferred
