Job Description

A fast-growing, industry-leading construction company is seeking a detail-oriented and highly communicative Certified Payroll Accountant to support multiple projects and ensure strict compliance with prevailing wage and government regulations. This role is a key part of the accounting team, with responsibilities split between certified payroll processing and project compliance. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Certified Payroll Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for active construction projects on a weekly basis using Paycom and Excel
  • Maintain compliance documentation in Levelset, including lien waivers and releases
  • Handle WRAP/CCIP/OCIP compliance requirements, including regular project reporting
  • Assist with quarterly and state-specific compliance filings
  • Identify errors and discrepancies in payroll or compliance processes and take corrective action
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting team, project coordinators, and operations managers
  • Occasionally support AP functions and general accounting needs
  • Use Excel to manage and analyze large data sets related to payroll and compliance

Certified Payroll Accountant Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction accounting, including certified payroll
  • Strong understanding of prevailing wage laws, certified payroll requirements, and government forms
  • Experience using Levelset for lien and compliance tracking
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; proactive about follow-up and updates
  • Comfortable working in a fully onsite environment
  • Must be self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and able to handle high-volume, deadline-driven tasks
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or Sage 300 is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP migration
