Job Description

A growing construction services company in Maryland is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Controller / Office Administrator to support financial operations and business administration. This hybrid role will work directly with the CEO and Head of Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, manage compliance responsibilities, and keep the company’s administrative processes on track. The ideal candidate is a sharp, self-motivated professional who brings strong financial acumen, solid organizational skills, and a proactive mindset to the table. 

Controller/Office Administrator Responsibilities: 

  • Manage bookkeeping, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Run and process payroll accurately and on time
  • Track and maintain compliance with business licenses, DOT regulations, general contractor licensing, and insurance
  • Maintain accurate inventory and vendor records using project management tools
  • Monitor budgets and job costing to ensure projects stay on track financially
  • Prepare internal reports and summaries for leadership and lending partners
  • Act as the point of contact for the outside CPA firm and ensure timely tax and compliance filings
  • Povide cash flow reports and updates to the CEO
  • Oversee financial documentation related to capital calls, payment applications, and financial planning
  • Organize recurring payments and ensure accurate reporting
  • Review and implement project accounting systems over time
  • Support administrative functions and light HR tasks, including benefits coordination 

Controller/Office Administrator Requirements: 

  • 3–5 years of experience as the most senior accounting person in a company (e.g., Assistant Controller, Controller, or Accounting Manager)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with job cost accounting and project budgeting
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communicator who thrives in an open-office, team-first environment
