Job Description
An industry leader in precision metal forming technologies is seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join its collaborative finance team in Worcester, MA. This is a fully onsite position responsible for maintaining job costing functions, supporting financial close processes, preparing key reports, and providing cost insights to division managers. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who thrives in a manufacturing environment and enjoys working closely with operational teams to bring financial clarity and value.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage all job cost accounting processes
- Allocate labor and material costs based on engineer-entered time data
- Support month-end and quarter-end closing activities, including journal entry preparation
- Collaborate with departments to produce profitability reports for each division and machine
- Analyze cost variances and investigate discrepancies in manufacturing
- Create sales reports and financial summaries for ownership
- Assist with year-end audits, cost allocations, and inventory valuation
- Drive absorption cost reporting processes
- Work with Excel to organize and analyze data
- Support Director of Finance and work closely with internal department leads
Senior Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of accounting experience with strong grasp of financial statements, debits/credits
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience in job cost accounting
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain financial data across teams
- Comfortable in a hands-on role within a small, collaborative team
- Manufacturing experience is highly preferred
- Must be self-directed and adaptable in a multi-functional role
- Experience using AccountMate or similar ERP/accounting software is a plus
- Familiarity with manufacturing cost allocation processes
