A full-service public accounting firm based in Torrance, CA, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager (CPA) to join its growing team. This is a client-facing role where you will lead strategic tax engagements, manage a dynamic team of tax professionals, and build long-term client relationships. You’ll review tax returns prepared by staff, provide in-depth tax strategy advice, and contribute to a highly collaborative, people-first culture.

Salary Range: $145,000 – $190,000 / year DOE

CPA Tax Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage client relationships and deliver high-quality tax consulting and compliance services
  • Review individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate tax returns
  • Guide staff and senior accountants on tax matters, workflow, and technical execution
  • Provide strategic tax planning and identify opportunities for tax savings
  • Coordinate engagement teams based on client needs and size of engagement
  • Collaborate directly with partners on complex tax issues and engagement progress
  • Research and write clear, well-supported tax memoranda
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching
  • Stay current with tax law developments and industry best practices
  • Mentor junior team members and support professional development
  • Participate in recruiting, training, and firm-sponsored events

CPA Tax Manager Requirements

  • CPA license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in public accounting
  • Experience reviewing tax returns and mentoring junior staff
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, ProSystems, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, including foreign ownership considerations
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deliver under deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with inventory-based businesses is a plus
