A leader in asphalt, concrete, and pavement solutions is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Operations to lead and optimize the company’s day-to-day field and office operations. This high-impact executive role oversees the full lifecycle of paving, concrete, and renovation projects while managing key teams across departments and driving operational excellence. Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in improving efficiency, increasing profitability, ensuring compliance, and shaping the long-term growth of the business. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader with a strong civil construction background who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $160,000 – $180,000 / year DOE

Director of Operations Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the daily operations of all paving, concrete, and construction projects across Northern California
• Lead two department managers and a field crew of approximately 150 employees
• Partner with the President to develop and execute business and growth strategies
• Analyze operational performance and implement improvements to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality
• Ensure all projects are completed on-time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards
• Establish and refine SOPs, policies, and safety practices in alignment with industry standards
• Drive company culture initiatives, staff training, and employee engagement to promote accountability and performance
• Manage budgeting, cost control, and reporting to ensure profitability and transparency
• Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors through professionalism and reliability
• Promote a culture of teamwork, innovation, and operational excellence

Director of Operations Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction, paving, or concrete operations
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive operations role
• Proven success in managing large field teams and multi-million dollar civil construction projects
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Civil construction experience is required; asphalt experience is highly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Deep knowledge of safety, compliance, and risk management practices in construction
• Strategic mindset with the ability to implement operational plans and lead through change
• Comfortable working onsite
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business is a plus
