Job Description

An eager technology company is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Account Executive to join a growing sales team in the building automation and technology industry. This role will focus on managing and growing relationships with established clients, primarily within the K-12 and higher education sectors. The Account Executive will work closely with consulting engineers, facility managers, and internal teams to promote value-added services and identify new business opportunities within existing accounts. This is a hybrid role based in the Syracuse, NY area, with flexibility to work from home and travel for client meetings. 

Salary: $90,000 to $120,000 / year DOE 

Account Executive Responsibilities 

  • Manage a portfolio of established K-12 and higher education client accounts 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and consulting engineers 
  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades, software enhancements, and energy-saving solutions 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop proposals and quotes 
  • Follow up on warm leads generated by business development teams 
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and account records in CRM 
  • Conduct regular in-person client meetings to maintain relationships and ensure client satisfaction 
  • Support the sales cycle from initial opportunity to project closeout 
  • Attend occasional industry events and conferences 
  • Work closely with facility managers to understand building lifecycle needs 

Account Executive Requirements 

  • 2+ years of experience in value-added services (VAS) sales or technical sales 
  • Experience in mechanical systems or building automation highly preferred 
  • Strong relationship management and client-facing skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook 
  • Experience working in the service industry 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering highly preferred (open to equivalent experience) 
  • CRM experience preferred, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 
  • Experience working with schools or public sector clients a plus
