A well-established boutique law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Temp Litigation Secretary to join its litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys on a variety of civil litigation matters, including business, real estate, and employment disputes. The position involves supporting all phases of litigation and trial preparation, from drafting and filing legal documents to managing discovery and case calendars. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative legal environment. 

Salary: $32 – $38 / hour 

Temp Litigation Secretary Responsibilities: 

  • Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents including motions, briefs, and discovery materials 
  • File documents in compliance with state and federal court procedures, including e-filing via PACER and ECF 
  • Manage litigation calendars, deadlines, and case milestones 
  • Prepare law and motion filings with formatted tables of contents and authorities 
  • Coordinate discovery efforts including document production and e-discovery management 
  • Organize trial preparation materials, exhibits, and deposition summaries 
  • Provide administrative support such as client intake, reception, and general office support 
  • Track case progress and document management using legal case software 
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure high standards of legal support 
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and staff in a team-focused environment 

Temp Litigation Secretary Requirements: 

  • 3-5 years of experience in litigation support 
  • Strong knowledge of Code of Civil Procedure 
  • Experience with court filing requirements and e-filing in both state and federal courts 
  • Proficient in PACER, ECF, and case management systems 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and e-discovery tools 
  • Advanced ability to format legal documents and prepare tables of contents and authorities 
  • Capable of managing shifting priorities and urgent deadlines 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
