A well-established, family-owned real estate investment and management firm is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to oversee the daily maintenance of their commercial properties in Portland. This hands-on role involves conducting routine property inspections, handling minor repairs, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring all buildings are clean, functional, and compliant with safety regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and resolving maintenance issues before they escalate.
Facilities Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform daily property inspections to ensure cleanliness and functionality
- Troubleshoot and conduct minor repairs on HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance
- Power wash exterior surfaces, replace filters, and maintain light fixtures
- Manage vendor relationships, coordinate repairs, and oversee scheduled maintenance work
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and tenant concerns
- Monitor HVAC and boiler systems, ensuring efficient operation
- Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce long-term repair costs
- Maintain and/or replace door hardware, ceiling tiles, floor maintenance equipment, and blinds
- Perform touch-up painting on walls, doors, and ceilings
- Handle general handyman tasks and occasional emergency maintenance
- Communicate with tenants about upcoming maintenance and property updates
- Assist with maintenance needs at other properties as required
Facilities Maintenance Technician Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in commercial building maintenance
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, boilers, electrical, and plumbing
- Hands-on experience with maintenance repairs and troubleshooting
- Ability to manage multiple properties efficiently
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with vendors, tenants, and leadership
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for property visits
- Ability to work on-call
- OSHA Safety Certification is preferred
- Property management experience is a plus
