A well-established full-service textile manufacturing company in Portsmouth, RI is seeking a Controller to oversee and coordinate its financial operations. The ideal candidate will manage a small team of accounting clerks and play a crucial role in maintaining internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring financial compliance across the organization. Controller Responsibilities: 

• Oversee and coordinate all financial activities and accounting personnel
• Set and manage controls, budgets, and forecasts to mitigate risk and improve returns on investments
• Standardize and maintain systems for accounting records and techniques
• Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations
• Manage internal and external audit processes
• Monitor manufacturing site compliance with internal controls and company policies
• Support continuous financial and operational improvements, focusing on cost savings and EBITDA enhancement
• Integrate new operations into reporting and financial processes
• Act as the main contact for external auditors
• Ensure all financial practices comply with federal and state regulations

Controller Requirements: 

• Must have 5-10 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on cost accounting
• Strong team management skills with experience overseeing a small accounting team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite 365 and experience with electronic filing systems
• Must possess an accounting degree or equivalent public accounting experience
• Strong treasury skills and knowledge of GAAP principles
• Experience in internal customer service with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Exceptional data tracking and time management abilities
• Must have extensive cost accounting expertise
• Prior experience with multi-division organizations is a plus
