An industrial machinery manufacturing company in San Leandro, CA is seeking a small company Controller to join their growing team. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting company leadership with accurate financial reporting. The position involves preparing financial statements, managing audits, overseeing payroll, handling contracts, and working with attorneys and brokers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and experienced in accounting, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a team-oriented environment.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 / year DOE

Controller Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and maintain financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Oversee payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable procedures
• Develop budgets, manage quarterly forecasting, and provide financial analysis to leadership
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, oversee audits, and prepare necessary documentation
• Manage personal property tax filings, business licenses, and permits across multiple states
• Monitor banking operations, cash management, loan documentation, and check signing
• Maintain and oversee insurance policies, leased equipment, and asset tracking
• Draft and manage contracts for domestic and international customers
• Work with attorneys on patents, trademarks, and annuity payments

Controller Requirements: 

• 10+ years of accounting experience with a thorough understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, debits, and credits
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business is required
• Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
• Experience with leases and contracts
• Ability to work onsite five days per week
