A commercial landscaping and irrigation services company is seeking a Construction Accounting Specialist to join their small, family-run team. This role will support their financial operations by handling payroll processing, customer invoicing, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and assisting with various financial tasks. You will work closely with the CPA to ensure smooth financial operations, with opportunities to learn and grow into higher-level roles. This position requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with strong accounting skills and a desire to progress in the field.

Salary Range: $65-70k / year DOE

Construction Accounting Specialist Responsibilities:

• Process payroll for construction employees
• Manage certified payroll reporting for public projects
• Generate invoices weekly
• Follow up on past-due payments and coordinate with leadership for resolution
• Set up new customers, budgets, and billing templates
• Work with AP to ensure smooth processing
• Assist with reconciliation calculations
• Maintain spreadsheets to track financials and job costs
• Assist with financial reporting and insurance processes
• Support the Work in Progress schedule
• Ensure detailed and accurate record-keeping
• Handle additional paperwork for public projects and compliance reporting

Construction Accounting Specialist Requirements:

• 1+ years of experience in an accounting department
• Construction industry experience preferred
• Strong proficiency in Excel
• Familiarity with Payroll, AP/AR, customer billing/invoicing, and reconciliations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Math, or a related field is a huge plus
• Experience with certified payroll reporting and union requirements
• Desire to progress in accounting
