A leading full-service law firm specializing in estate and elder law planning, located in Manhasset, New York, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. Salary Range: $70,000 – $130,000 / year DOE
Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Active membership of the New York State Bar Association
- 2-5 years of experience in trusts and estates law
- Exceptional writing and drafting skills, with the ability to prepare complex legal documents
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of approximately 20 cases at a time
- Willingness to travel to court proceedings across boroughs and maintain a flexible schedule
Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney Responsibilities:
- Draft and review complex estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
- Manage all aspects of trust administration, including asset distribution, tax filings, and court proceedings
- Advise clients on estate tax planning strategies, including generation-skipping transfer tax considerations
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex estate and estate planning issues
- Collaborate with clients, financial advisors, and other professionals to develop personalized estate plans
- Represent clients in probate court proceedings, including contested estate matters
- Maintain accurate client files and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Handle real estate contracts and closings as needed
