Vendor Relations Manager
Job Description
A nationwide provider in customized waste and recycling solutions is searching for a diligent and experienced Vendor Relations Manager to join their team in Houston, TX! They are looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience as a manager or director of vendor management or procurement within the waste management industry who excels at building and maintaining strong vendor relationships, negotiating top-notch deals, and ensuring compliance with company standards. In this role, you'll lead a team, drive strategic vendor management initiatives, and contribute to the company's success by optimizing vendor performance and cost savings. Vendor Relations Manager Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience at the manager or director level in vendor management or procurement within the waste management industry - 6-10 years is preferred
- High school diploma required - bachelor's degree is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Experience in the waste management industry
- Familiarity with in-house software systems is preferred
- Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask effectively and demonstrate exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Availability to travel within the US on a quarterly basis
Vendor Relations Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain long-standing relationships with company-approved vendors
- Assess vendor products, negotiate pricing, and address service-related concerns
- Conduct research to identify vendors offering the best pricing and quality
- Monitor sales trends and implement vendor selection program
- Conduct interviews with new vendors and inform them of their responsibilities
- Establish and assess performance standards for approved vendors
- Evaluate and improve current vendor management programs
- Lead and grow a team currently consisting of two vendor managers to a four-person team
- Handle daily tasks involving vendor contracts, renegotiations, and managing vendor performance
- Travel within the US on a quarterly basis, approximately 2-3 days per trip, to secure deals
