Job Description

A well-established food processing company in Johnson City, TN, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their team! They are looking for candidates with at least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably within a CPA firm to be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, inventory management, payroll, monthly reconciliations, and tax filings. Staff Accountant Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with a CPA firm
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel for inventory audits
  • Strong math, organizational, and data entry skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the company s ERP system and accounting processes
  • CPA or willingness to obtain CPA certification is preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX) is preferred
  • Familiarity with ADP payroll systems is a plus but not required

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Support Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes as needed
  • Assist with inventory management and act as a backup to the Inventory Staff Accountant
  • Perform accounting tasks for plant sites, including reconciliation of freight invoices
  • Assist with payroll-related functions and fixed asset depreciation schedules
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and process regular monthly journal entries
  • Prepare property and sales tax returns for review
  • Reconcile inventory reports to the general ledger and recommend adjustments
  • Review and approve invoice journals and support monthly close procedures
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and assist with audit schedules
  • Participate in insurance renewals and updates throughout the year
  • Assist Controller and act as a backup to other accounting team members
  • Travel to plant sites a few times a year to help with inventory audits
