Job Description

A prominent real estate management firm in Farmington Hills, MI is searching for a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to join their team! They are looking for candidates with at least 5 years of accounting experience, along with a background in real estate management, to manage accounting, bookkeeping, and tax operations for various business entities, including a family office. The role involves preparing financial statements, overseeing tax compliance, managing cash flow forecasts, and monitoring investment performance. Senior Accountant Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop
  • Bachelor s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Real estate industry experience is highly preferred (commercial or residential)
  • CPA designation is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with property management software (Yardi, MRI, Appfolio, Rent Manager) is a plus
  • Knowledge of business and personal income taxes is preferred
  • CPA or advanced degree in accounting or finance is preferred
  • Experience in a family office or with complex investment entities is preferred
  • Familiarity with trust and estate accounting practices is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior executives

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Manage bookkeeping and accounting functions through QuickBooks for multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare summary financial statements and reports
  • Assist with tax compliance by gathering data and coordinating with external advisors for timely tax return preparation
  • Monitor and report on investment performance across multiple business entities
  • Forecast cash flows and manage budgeting processes for optimal financial health
  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial and operational processes for enhanced efficiency
  • Collaborate with external CPA and assist in limited tax-related functions
