A nationally leading seafood distributor headquartered in Clackamas, OR is seeking a Seafood Industry Procurement Specialist for their shrimp division to be responsible for handling all transactional tasks related to the central procurement of warm water shrimp.  The role involves developing positive relationships with vendors to ensure that the best prices and quality of shrimp are obtained.  This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 4-5+ years in warm water shrimp sales/procurement who wants to take their career to the next level.

Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000 DOE

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Warm Water Shrimp category
  • Assist in managing inventory sourcing on assigned products
  • Work closely with the Category Manager to develop and implement an enhanced strategy for sourcing and procuring goods that balance the best cost with consistent quality
  • Maintain Just-in-Time (JiT) inventory to meet deadlines
  • Develop an expert-level knowledge of shrimp suppliers and cost infrastructure
  • Assist negotiations with vendors to ensure optimum price for materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Assist with developing new supply sources
  • Ensure materials and supplies purchased will arrive on a timely basis to meet inventory deadlines and alert managers of delays when necessary
  • Monitor estimated costs versus actuals
  • Assist the Category Manager with directing and executing contract terms and manage vendor contracts to track financial terms, renewals, and other contractual obligations
  • Communicate daily market conditions, incoming products, current inventory on hand, and potential/current outages to all relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Review inventory, item movement/history, ad projections, and product supply to determine need and recommend or place more orders

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 5-10+ years of experience in procurement and/or sales with a focus on warm water shrimp
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with vendors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in Just-in-Time (JiT) inventory management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
