An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and passionate Restaurant General Manager to lead the operations of a high-end Southern Italian dining establishment in Rhode Island. This role involves overseeing daily restaurant activities, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and service. Responsibilities include managing financial performance, mentoring staff, building community relationships, and collaborating with the culinary team to create memorable dining experiences. The position also offers the chance to shape team culture and implement strategic initiatives for long-term success. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a strong background in fine dining, exceptional wine knowledge, and a proven ability to motivate teams while fostering a welcoming environment for both staff and guests.
General Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee all restaurant operations, ensuring efficient workflows, excellent customer service, and a high standard of food quality and cleanliness
- Develop, mentor, and motivate staff, fostering a positive team culture to minimize turnover and build a strong FOH team
- Manage and analyze financial performance, including P&L oversight, budget management, and cost control
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to create and update menu offerings, incorporating culinary trends and seasonal specialties
- Handle customer interactions, resolving complaints and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for all guests
- Build and maintain strong community relationships to enhance the restaurant's reputation and foster loyalty
- Monitor inventory levels, manage supplier relationships, and implement effective ordering practices
- Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff to maintain a skilled and professional team
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and cleanliness standards, maintaining a safe work environment
- Coordinate scheduling and operational coverage alongside the Assistant General Manager to meet business needs
General Manager Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in restaurant management, preferably in fine dining or hospitality environments
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
- Proven experience managing financial operations, including P&L responsibilities and cost control
- In-depth knowledge of Southern Italian cuisine, wines (especially Italian varietals), and culinary trends is highly preferred
- Proficiency in restaurant management systems, Microsoft 365, and POS platforms
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with staff, customers, and the community
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business demands
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric approach
