Job Description


A manufacturing company that produces glass components for the semiconductor industry is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their team in Portland, Oregon. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that materials meet specifications and assist manufacturing for yields. This is a full-time, permanent position and the selected candidate will be expected to work 100% onsite on the production floor. 

Pay Range: $85,000 - $102,000 DOE 

Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in technical reviews of components to ensure the component and finished product critical dimensions/features are identified
  • Determine appropriate measurement methodology for component critical dimensions; create supplier inspection plans to ensure the supplier measures the component similarly
  • Assist suppliers in CMM program development; serve as backup CMM programmer for a finished product
  • Assist QC Supervisor in performing/documenting customer-required 1st Articles
  • Administer round-robin artifact measurements with suppliers semi-annually; compile data and performs measurement correlation studies
  • Participate in Supplier Surveys and Assessments, as needed; monitor the supplier for timely completion of corrective actions resulting from assessments
  • Train suppliers on company’s supplier specifications; QC100VQ Supplier Quality Specification; INS-001 Supplier Inspection Data Sheet Specification; PKG-001 Supplier Packaging Specification
  • Participate in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality continuous improvement projects, as appropriate

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (preferred or relevant experience)
  • At least 3 years of related experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and advanced mathematical skills (i.e. Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus)
  • Proficient in writing and editing CMM programs
  • Proficient in determining the best measuring technique using Geo Dimensional Tolerancing  
    (GDT) ASME Y14.5 
  • Understanding of statistical process control and quality management principles
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
