Purchasing Specialist
Job Description
A leading wholesale distributor of paint, hardware and lumber is searching for a proactive Purchasing Specialist with at least 3 years of purchasing experience, including managing purchase orders! This is a fully onsite position in Washington, NY where you ll be responsible for managing vendor relationships and processing POs from order taking all the way through to completion. This role involves working closely with vendors to confirm pricing, ensure timely delivery, and handle any changes. It's perfect for a tech-savvy professional who is ready to dive into the world of paint, hardware, and building supplies distribution and make a big impact on a brand that has an amazing team spirit and a positive reputation in the marketplace!
Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 / year DOE
Purchasing Specialist Requirements:
- 3+ years of purchasing experience, including managing purchase orders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Tech-savvy with the ability to learn and use ERP/EDS systems (AS400 experience preferred but not required)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a high volume of vendors
- Proactive, go-getter attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
- Experience in the paint, hardware, or related industries is preferred
Purchasing Specialist Responsibilities:
- Manage and process purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy
- Confirm pricing and delivery details with vendors
- Place special orders and manage changes in orders
- Handle approximately 100-150 vendors, including USG, UGL, Bostick, Gorilla Glue, and Louisville Ladder Company
- Collaborate with warehouse, accounting, and customer service departments to ensure smooth order processing
- Provide ETA updates to the sales team
- Work closely with accounts payable to resolve invoicing questions
