A long-standing leader in the construction industry with over 37 years of experience in the San Diego area is seeking a Purchasing/Project Manager. You ll play a critical dual-role, overseeing material procurement and managing essential project tasks. Key responsibilities include handling permits, negotiating with subcontractors, and supporting field operations to ensure seamless project execution. They are looking for a proactive, organized, and flexible professional who thrives in a fast-paced, small-team environment and is eager to grow within the company.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000 / year DOE
Purchasing/Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Respond to foremen s calls to address material needs and ensure timely procurement
- Conduct job buyouts, research suppliers, and negotiate pricing and contracts
- Approve invoices for purchased materials and ensure subcontractor compliance with insurance and documentation
- Pull required permits, schedule inspections, and maintain up-to-date project documentation
- Issue purchase orders, manage subcontracts, and execute change orders
- Support project progress reporting and manage the transportation of materials and equipment to job sites
- Work closely with foremen, the superintendent, and internal staff to meet project goals efficiently
Purchasing/Project Manager Requirements:
- 1+ year of construction industry experience
- Experience in material procurement and vendor/subcontractor management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Familiarity with Sage 300 and Heavy Job software is a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Flexibility and willingness to wear multiple hats in a small team
