Job Description
A real estate investment and development company in Carlsbad, CA is in search of an experienced Property Project Accountant to join their team! You will be primarily responsible for ensuring accurate financial management and accountability for various real estate projects, involving auditing, draw requests, accounts payable, financial reporting, and project analysis.
The company is looking for candidates with at least 5 years of accounting experience with strong auditing knowledge, who also have a background in multi-family real estate. Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough auditing of financial statements, general ledger, and subsidiary ledgers
- Handle draw requests and accounts payable management
- Prepare accrual financial statements, GL account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Create and maintain project accounts, manage project-related records, and review supplier invoices and overhead charges for projects
- Investigate project variances, prepare variance reports, and provide project profitability insights to management
- Facilitate the closure of project accounts upon project completion
Requirements:
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in accrual accounting, Federal tax, and GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Multifamily accounting experience is a must
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred
- Knowledge of Yardi and Sage Intacct is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Residential or commercial real estate experience is preferred
- Land development background is preferred
