Job Description

An innovative real estate private equity firm that specializes in self-storage facilities and mixed-used building conversions is seeking a Property Accountant to join their dynamic team in a fully remote position!  As a Property Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The company is looking for candidates with at least 3 years of experience in commercial real estate property accounting, preferably in self-storage or retail properties.

This position offers a flexible remote work environment, where the East Coast time zone is preferred with approximately 10% travel required for team meetings and collaboration. Pay Range:
$90,000 - $140,000 DOE 


  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities for assigned properties, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
  • Responsible for full P+L responsibilities for two properties, including cash-based accounting, CAM reconciliations, and lease depreciation for a number of tenants
  • Oversee financial reporting for retail properties and self-storage properties in collaboration with a 3rd party
  • Prepare and analyze financial data for individual properties, supporting audit control calculations and distribution payouts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including finance and the director of fund accounting

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial real estate property accounting, ideally in self-storage or retail property
  • Proficient in cash basis and accrual accounting methods, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • CPA or CPA designation is preferred
  • Private equity property accounting experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with Yardi or MRI software is preferred
