Job Description

An award-winning financial services firm in San Diego, CA is seeking a Payroll Specialist/Accounting Admin to join their team!  This is a multi-faceted role that is primarily designed to support payroll management, but it includes various other responsibilities within the accounting department.  The firm is looking for someone with 3-5 years of experience in payroll management who is willing to wear multiple hats and grow within the company.  The position provides the ability to work remotely. Additionally, employees and their dependents receive full health insurance coverage. Other benefits include a range of insurance options, a 401k retirement plan, paid time off (PTO), and more.
 
Pay Range:
$60,000 - $70,000 DOE
 
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a finance/admin assistant to the CFO
  • Oversee payroll for both salaried and hourly direct employees, including onboarding new employees for payroll
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processes twice a month
  • Address and resolve benefits & payroll inquiries
  • Ensure commissions are paid correctly
  • Accounting background including AP/AR, payroll, accounting experience, general financial (cash) accounting, general ledger, journal entries, GAAP standards
  • Be open to annual travel to other locations for company check-ins
  • Participate in on-the-job training for specific roles and responsibilities, especially around finance and compliance

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in payroll management
  • General accounting experience
  • Proficient with Paychex or have a strong payroll background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting is strongly preferred
  • SCHRM certification is advantageous
  • Ability to think quickly and act decisively
  • Open to wearing multiple hats and growing with the company
