An innovative boat construction company is seeking an experienced Outfitting Supervisor to join their dynamic team in Chula Vista, CA. This critical role is focused on leading a team of skilled tradespeople in the outfitting phase of boat construction. From initial design input to project delivery, you ll oversee key tasks such as resource allocation, technical problem-solving, and ensuring high standards for safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate is a skilled manager with strong technical expertise, particularly in boat building and outfitting, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Salary Range: $40 - $55 / hr
Outfitting Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of 12-20 tradespeople across various disciplines
- Ensure compliance with company policies on safety, quality, and productivity
- Oversee project schedules and allocate resources to meet production goals
- Monitor performance metrics, including productivity and quality, across shifts
- Participate in design discussions, providing technical input based on experience
- Develop practical solutions to complex problems, ensuring timely project completion
- Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project flow
- Supervise the outfitting of boats, focusing on piping, mechanical systems, structural elements, and electrical installations
Outfitting Supervisor Requirements:
- At least 5 years in the boat, ship, or shipyard industry
- Strong technical expertise in piping, mechanical systems, structural welding, and electrical systems
- Proven management experience, particularly with trade teams
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino, and MS Project is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office tools
- A degree is not required, but hands-on expertise is essential
- Team player with strong organizational and leadership skills
- Resilient and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure in a project-based environment
