Job Description


A financial services company is seeking an experienced Operations Associate in Newport Beach, CA with a research background and coding skills to assist in their operations. The candidate will be responsible for running and validating the firm's start of day reports, proactively resolving trade breaks and settlement issues, reconciling pnl and cash breaks at an account and position level, and participating in monthly valuations committee. The candidate should have a strong understanding of operational workflow and different securities settlement cycles. 
 
Pay Range: $70,000 - $125,000 DOE 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Run and validate the firm’s start of day reports, daily (5:30 AM start time, non-negotiable) 
  • Proactively work with the firm’s prime brokers, brokers, and fund administrator to resolve trade breaks and settlement issues 
  • Develop a strong understanding of the firm’s operational workflow 
  • Understanding of different securities settlement cycles and ability to reconcile pnl and cash breaks at an account and position level 
  • Validate and send start of day reports to firm at the start of each day 
  • Participate in the monthly valuations committee and assist with the internal month-end reconciliation of positions, cash, pricing and pnl for all funds 
  • Work with the CCO and provide data as needed for regulatory reporting 
  • Understand and be able to debug and improve the operational Python code base (preferred) 
 
Requirements: 
  • 3 years of experience in operations/analysis from investment firm in public markets and large institutional investments (knowledge of Derivatives, public equity, futures, options, bonds) 
  • Bachelor’s degree required: finance, business or related field 
  • Python coding experience & Intermediate/advanced Excel (vlookups, pivot tables required) 
  • 3+ years in financial role doing operations for a buy-side firm that works with large institutional investors (buy-side firm)
