A boutique law firm based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, is expanding and seeking two adaptable and detail-oriented Legal Secretaries! The key responsibilities of the Legal Secretaries will be assisting attorneys with case management, e-filing, document preparation, client communication, and general administrative support related to community association law, litigation, and other legal matters. The ideal candidates are punctual, effective communicators, and able to work independently. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team of experienced, collaborative professionals!
Legal Secretary Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with case management, including community association law and litigation matters such as foreclosures, violations, and other legal disputes
- E-file documents with state courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures
- Manage attorneys calendars by scheduling appointments, hearings, and deadlines
- Prepare legal documents such as demand letters, liens, and pleadings
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on case progress, answer questions, and assist with administrative needs
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including preparing case summaries, legal memos, and correspondence
- Handle general office duties such as filing, copying, and organizing legal documents
Legal Secretary Requirements:
- 1-5 years of litigation experience in civil litigation within community association law, foreclosure, insurance defense, personal injury, family law, commercial litigation, or other areas of law
- Ability to draft legal documents including pleadings
- Experience with e-filing in state courts and knowledge of filing requirements
- Community association law experience is a plus but not required
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while being a team player
- Proficiency with legal management software and Microsoft Office applications
