Job Description
Remote (Must be based in IL)
A boutique plaintiff-only law firm specializing in complex personal injury cases, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their team in Illinois. This fully remote role supports the firm's owner, offering a unique opportunity to manage impactful cases. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, proactive, and equipped to handle diverse legal tasks independently.
Salary Range: Up to $70,000 / year DOE
Legal Assistant Responsibilities:
- Manage client intake and case documentation
- Draft, review, and issue discovery responses and subpoenas
- E-file legal documents in both state and federal courts
- Calendar and schedule depositions, hearings, and other key dates
- Review and collect medical records relevant to cases
- Prepare notices, pleadings, and correspondence
- Utilize and maintain the firm s case management and client communication systems
- Ensure compliance with legal deadlines and maintain a highly organized digital filing system
Legal Assistant Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years in plaintiff personal injury law, with a focus on complex cases such as medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, or sexual abuse preferred
- Familiarity with Illinois legal procedures and e-filing systems is required; experience with New Mexico cases is a plus!
- Bachelor s degree or Paralegal certificate.
- Highly tech-savvy, organized, and capable of thriving in a remote environment
- Friendly demeanor, proactive attitude, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
