Job Description
Boutique Recruiting has teamed up with full-service hotel in search of a talented Hotel Controller to work onsite in beautiful Palo Alto, CA. As the sole member of the accounting department, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations and ensuring the accurate and timely management of financial transactions. This role requires expertise in hotel accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with experience in the hotel industry who wants the chance to work for a small, family-owned company and make a significant contribution to a rebranding and renovation project! The company offers a great salary, with bonus and benefits, flexible start-time and growth opportunities, including potential advancement to other hotels!
Pay Range: $100,000 - $110,000 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the accounting department
- Collaborate with the General Manager and executive team to develop and implement aligned, goal-oriented financial strategies
- Perform month-end closing activities and ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
- Utilize property management systems and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize financial performance
- Oversee profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and financial reports
- Maintain proficiency in hotel-specific software systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the hotel industry
- Previous supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of hotel accounting principles, including AP/AR, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
- Proficiency in hotel-specific software systems, such as Profit Sword and M3, is highly preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
