Job Description
A leading national food and beverage company that specializes in seafood distribution is seeking a General Manager of Distribution to join their team. This position is responsible for overseeing top-level management at one of the company's four distribution centers nationwide. The core functions of this role include team leadership, business administration/development, financial management, and strategic growth.
As the General Manager of Distribution, you will manage a team of 6-8 department managers responsible for sales, purchasing, operations, production, delivery, and accounting. You will work closely with sales reps, purchasers, and logistics teams to oversee sales and purchasing efforts, improve operations and processes within the warehouses and transportation, and develop and implement strategies for growth and expansion of the business. You will also ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, oversee financial management and pursue opportunities for strategic growth.
Industry experience in food service and beverage distribution is required for this job and the company will cover relocation fees and cost of living for a 1-2 month training period.
Pay Range: $125,000 - $175,000 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Directly manage a team of 6-8 department managers in operations, sales, production, delivery, and accounting
- Work closely with sales reps, purchasers, and logistics team to oversee sales and purchasing efforts
- Improve operations and processes within the warehouses and transportation
- Develop and implement strategies for growth and expansion of the business
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic growth, including expansion to new markets
Requirements:
- 5-10+ years of experience in relevant foodservice distribution or related field
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field is preferred
- Management experience in at least two of the following segments: Sales, Purchasing, and Operations
- Valid drivers license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
- Industry experience in Foodservice or Beverage distribution, preferably in the seafood/protein/fresh foods segment
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement effective strategies to drive growth and profitability
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
