Job Description
Remote Candidates must be located within 1 hour from San Jose
A technology firm in San Jose, CA specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of unfinished electronic components is seeking a Field Application Engineer to join their team! This position is designed for a technically skilled individual who can support Business Development Managers by effectively developing and executing component design projects within the North American market. The role involves understanding client requirements, translating these into technical specifications, and clearly communicating these needs to the technical teams in Asia. Candidates should have a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and must be fluent in Mandarin to facilitate interactions with manufacturing teams. The position is remote but requires being located within 1 hour of San Jose, CA, as travel to meet clients and manage project requirements is necessary.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 / year DOE + bonus
Field Application Engineer Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Mandarin to ensure effective communication with clients and the team in Asia
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Electrical Engineering (EE), with significant relevant industry experience
- Experience with major industry players like NVIDIA and CISCO preferred
- Strong analytical skills to understand and translate client needs into actionable project specifications
- Willingness to travel frequently to meet with clients and manage project requirements
- Ability to adapt to the operational hours and practices of an Asia-based company
Field Application Engineer Responsibilities:
- Support Business Development Managers in securing and managing component design projects
- Interpret client requirements accurately and proactively address potential issues
- Develop technical proposals and clarify specifications with clients
- Engage in the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed
- Conduct cost analyses for projects and discuss financial implications with stakeholders
- Travel as needed to meet with clients and ensure alignment on project expectations
- Maintain communication with the manufacturing team in Asia to relay client specifications and adjustments
