Job Description


A full-service accounting firm located in Stevenson Ranch, CA is currently seeking a Tax Manager to join their team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to review the work of a team of 7 CPAs and provide them with professional training and guidance. The firm's clients mainly consist of service-based companies involved in the restaurant, hospitality, real estate, and construction industries.

Pay Range: $120,000 - $200,000 DOE

Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and training to a team of low and high level CPAs
  • Conduct reviews of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns
  • Identify industry and client tax issues, conduct tax research, and assist with tax planning
  • Advise and assist in the resolution of IRS and state tax issues
  • Respond to governmental correspondence and audits
  • Perform comprehensive year-end tax planning and analyze payroll withholding requirements for state and federal taxes
  • Supervise and review the work of team members with accounting responsibilities as necessary
  • Assist with the preparation of tax filings when needed
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge through continuing professional education (CPE) and share knowledge gained by training the office
  • Attend monthly roundtable meetings to discuss tax changes and acquire new knowledge

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 6 years of tax experience with a public accounting firm and/or family office
  • 2-3 years of experience reviewing tax filings
  • CPA certification
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with tax concepts related to individuals, C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, estates, and trusts
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field such as economics or business
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, QuickBooks, and tax-specific software such as Lacerte and CCH AnswerConnect
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues, perform research, and demonstrate critical thinking to implement tax advice in response to new legislation and planning
  • Experience in a supervisory role is preferred
