Job Description
A well-established construction company in Lorton, VA, is searching for a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team! They are looking for a professional with a strong background in civil construction estimating to take on the responsibility of developing accurate and competitive project proposals. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of various construction projects by collaborating with vendors, project managers, and other team members to secure the best pricing and meet project goals. Estimator Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in civil construction estimating; less experience may be considered for candidates with a strong educational background
- Proficiency in Excel (formulas), Adobe, or Bluebeam software
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and adapt to changing situations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership over tasks and projects
- Bachelor s degree in civil engineering or related field is preferred
- Familiarity with sitework and civil construction projects is preferred
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment is preferred
Estimator Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for various civil construction projects
- Conduct quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive project proposals
- Contact vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing for materials and products
- Collaborate closely with the project management and construction teams to ensure alignment on project goals
- Occasionally visit job sites to take photos or gather additional information as needed
- Utilize Excel (including formulas), Adobe, or Bluebeam for estimating and takeoff tasks
