An irrigation company in San Rafael, CA is seeking a skilled Director of Operations to drive company-wide efficiency, growth, and customer satisfaction across multiple locations. This role will lead critical functions including HR, IT, property management, and sales, working closely with department heads to ensure seamless operations and an exceptional customer experience. Key responsibilities involve overseeing store locations, implementing strategic growth initiatives, and fostering a collaborative, hands-on work environment. The ideal candidate is an approachable, steady leader with extensive experience in high-level operations, multi-location management, and team development. This role offers a unique opportunity for growth within a family-oriented, customer-focused organization.

Salary Range: $225,000 275,000 / year DOE

Director of Operations Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple company locations, including managing HR, IT, administrative, property management, and sales functions
  • Directly supervise a team of approximately 10 managers and department heads, ensuring smooth operations and cohesive leadership across the organization
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to support controlled growth and maintain high customer service standards
  • Manage operational budgets, streamline inventory processes, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure efficient product availability
  • Conduct regular site visits and meetings with location managers to support and monitor store-level operations
  • Maintain a hands-on approach to problem-solving, addressing operational issues calmly and effectively
  • Act as a liaison between corporate and store locations to foster a consistent, customer-focused experience
  • Collaborate closely with leadership on growth initiatives, enhancing efficiency and performance
  • Cultivate a family-oriented, supportive, and coaching-based culture that values development and employee satisfaction

Director of Operations Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years in a senior operations role with demonstrated stability and effectiveness
  • Experience overseeing multiple locations, ideally within a wholesale, retail, or construction-related industry
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop a diverse team
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Familiarity with systems such as Infor for wholesale operations and Salesforce preferred
  • Experience working with contractors/landscapers and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to commute within 45 minutes of the corporate office in San Rafael, CA; relocation required if over one hour away
  • Strong alignment with a family-oriented, customer-centric company culture
