Job Description

A national nonprofit organization that specializes in education administration programs is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Communications to join their team in Scottsdale, AZ. They are looking for a strong writer and communicator with at least 6 years of experience in communications or marketing to lead the development and implementation of an integrated and strategic plan to increase the visibility of their programs across key audiences. You ll be working with a digital content manager and a staff writer to be responsible for all communications, including newsletters and publications, digital communications and marketing. This is an exceptional opportunity for a communications manager looking to step up to a director-level role. It s a chance to blend a passion for nonprofit work with a commitment to improving education, all within an organization driven by a powerful and rewarding mission!

Pay Range: $90,000 - $100,000 DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of an integrated strategic communications plan to enhance brand identity and increase visibility of programs across key stakeholder audiences
  • Direct national marketing and public relations strategies to build and maintain relationships with key external audiences, including the media and influencers
  • Enhance internal communications, providing support to staff with messaging, materials, and presentations
  • Manage the creation of content for various communications channels, including blogs, websites, and social media, ensuring high-quality and impactful messages
  • Identify media opportunities and manage press relations; prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and other materials as needed
  • Supervise the communications team, including overseeing daily activities and guiding direct reports

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in communications or marketing, preferably with a focus on project management and administrative plans
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling content for a variety of audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in the education sector, with a deep understanding of education issues, especially related to teacher policies and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with design and editing software such as Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Prior experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team
  • Creative and strategic thinking capabilities, with a knack for developing innovative communication strategies
  • Collaborative work style, able to work effectively with teams across different locations and functions
