A prominent legal firm based in Austin, TX, specializing in criminal defense, immigration, and removal defense, is seeking a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team! They are looking for a bilingual attorney with criminal defense experience through an internship, clerkship or as an attorney, who is passionate about client care and community involvement to represent individuals in criminal defense cases primarily in Travis, Hayes, and Williamson counties. Candidates with Immigration Removal experience are also encouraged to apply. This role requires daily court appearances and in-office collaboration, so candidates must be willing to travel to these counties for court appearances and be available to work on-site. Criminal Defense Attorney Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Texas
- At least 1-2 years of criminal defense experience
- Must have criminal defense experience through an internship, clerkship or as an attorney
- Will also consider candidates that have Immigration Removal experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Willingness to travel to Travis, Hayes, and Williamson counties for court appearances
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with clients going through difficult times
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paralegals and support staff
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize tasks effectively
- Empathy and patience when dealing with clients in stressful situations
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and remain composed in court settings
Criminal Defense Attorney Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in criminal defense cases, primarily in Travis, Hayes, and Williamson counties
- Manage client interactions, providing updates and ensuring clear communication throughout the legal process
- Conduct thorough discovery and develop pre-trial diversion plans
- Handle a busy caseload, averaging around 90 cases, with daily court appearances
- Collaborate with the team in-office to strategize and review cases post-court appearances
- Participate in firm-wide training and community volunteer events
